Google, Clipmarks look to video

It wasn’t too long ago that Digg started offering video as a peer content offering, along side the regular common-or-garden variety universal resource locator (link to you & me!)
Well it looks like Google have been experimenting with video in their search results, too:
“Looks like Google is experimenting with including videos in the organic results. Razvan Antonescu while searching in Google for “nightwish videos,” was served a Plusbox with a link reading ’show video,’ in the search results right along with the textual snippet from the Google Video entry.”
When I read the title of the article: “Google Mixes Videos in Organic Result” I thought: “Oh no!”
But it looks like Google have handled this issue of mine with the kind of good sense I ought to have given them credit for in the first place.
The video isn’t ‘in line’ as such, but provided as a disclosure item that you reveal by clicking a plus button.
Meanwhile, over at Clipmarks, they’ve been busy looking to add video to their social bookmarks tool, too:
“You can now clip videos from YouTube and other video sites … As well as being able to clip videos and Clip-to-Blog, we’ve enhanced the Clipmarks browser add-on even further. First, you can now highlight and clip multiple sentences, making it easier to capture the exact pieces of the page you want. Second, you can blog and email what you clip without saving it first. We also turned what was a four button extension into one button that fits nicely in your browser.”
I included that last part because I’d like those reading this article who aren’t familiar with Clipmarks to go and see what they’re all about.
I’ve been on there for some time, now. I’ll be honest, I use my Clips to keep the content churn high on my ‘blog. I suspect this wouldn’t come as too much of a shock to the guys at Clipmarks since that’s sort of the whole point of the Widgets they provide ‘bloggers with.
How does Clipmarks differ from Digg? Hmm, time to put on my diplomats hat: people on Clipmarks aren’t quite as intense and emotional, put it that way…
